Pinewood Management on Drummond Hill

Forestry Commission beat forester Peter Fullarton (left), explains management of Scots Pine at the top of Drummond Hill. In this particular area, regeneration of the pine was proving very difficult, seemingly because of desication and the silty soils becoming capped after heavy rainfall. Several atempts to regenerate this area had proved unsuccessful to date. Drummond Hill as a whole is very impressive, and this pine area is a very important conservation zone.
