Down the Plug Hole!

About 3 miles below the main dam in Glen Lyon at Stronuich, the water from a secondary dam diverts water in to a pipe which has been drilled underground over almost five miles, right through the mountains, and coming out at Glen Lochay power station, the biggest power station in the Breadalbane complex. This is a truly amazing feat of engineering, and it defies belief that some-one could contemplate doing this. It does illustrate the optimism and determination of the 1950's, and the infra-structure is still sound, and working perfectly. This is the water disappearing down the plug hole. As at the main dam, a compensation flow remains in the main river.
