Gordon & Nellie are camping out up at the top of Glenlyon this week, so no up-to-date photos for a few days.
You will notice we are taking a lot of photos & videos, and I thought I would take a moment to explain the many reasons why:
Photos provide a good record of some of the information we are collecting, although most data will be stored on electronic maps and Excel spreadsheets
They allow us to explain specific issues on here
The short videos can bring certain situations to life
They provide interpretative material for talks, and for our final report next year
Taking photos breaks up the day for our surveyors, giving them a constructive excuse to stop for a minute when climbing a steep slope, for example.
It encourages them to think about the obvious things so that we can articulate everything that is going on
They stimulate a bit of good-natured competition and topic for discussion
They act as a photo diary for our surveyors
They help me picture areas that I will not get to personally
They hopefully provide some ongoing interest to those who log on here on a regular basis. It is important to us to maintain interest at a variety of different levels.
Finally, if we get over 1000 posts on here, this will become a significant entity on the Internet, and that will give us greater possibilities for promoting our project going forwards.
And hopefully it will help promote Highland Perthshire in general………
Now you know.
