
Gordon Wilson managed to get this photo yesterday in a band of alder trees, with not a conifer in site, illustrating how animals can make use of different habitats and niches at different times, and that diversity of habitats is important. Just proves that squirrels dont just sit on the ground eating pine cones all day long..............
PS If you look closely or expand the photo, you can see the squirrel is carrying moss in its mouth, so presumably it has a drey around somewhere.
