TWCP Catch & Release Prize Winners
This spring, TWCP sponsored a Catch & Release competition for spring salmon, with competitors having to post pictures of those fish they returned on the internet salmon fishing website, the Salmon Fishing Forum (SFF). Prizes were available for the heaviest fish, the highest aggregate returned by an individual angler, and to the beat or angling association with the best record.
The Tay Ghillies Association, who are represented on our TWCP committtee and who ave helped us with sponsorship of our survey work, presented a trophy, the Salmon Conservation Award, for this latter category.
Here, TGA Chairman and TDSFB board member John Young presents the Salmon Conservation Award to Jimmy Ross, President of Pitlochry Angling Club (PAC). Well done Jimmy, a fantastic team effort!
The overall C & R record on the Tay this spring has been very good, and, hopefully, our competition with have played a small part in promoting that.
The awards were presented at the TGA Gala & Fun Day at Ballinluig yesterday, an annual family event which has raised many thousands of £ for the Tay in recent years.
