Two weeks ago we had a bit of drama when one off our surveyors, Nelly, an experienced and qualified mountain guide, took a wrong turning and went down in to Glen Lochay by mistake, from the watershed above Meggernie in Glen Lyon. He was half way down before he knew where he was and had to walk to Killin and get a bus home. meanwhile, his companion, Gordon, did not know where he was, and because of the mountains in between, they could not contact one another. Interesting little episode that shows how easy it is to get lost on the hills, even if you have experience.
Nelly was unable to work out how he had made this mistake. We have since found out that this area is referred to locally as Puzzle Glen, because it is extremely easy to get lost there, with even experienced locals going the wrong way on occasion.
So, there you are, our very own little Bermuda triangle in Highland Perthshire.......
