To date, fishing beats further down the Tay have been very supportive off our project, with a number of ghillies in particular giving personal donations. This connection with the lower river adds a great deal of strength to our own catchment project.
The wildlife and landscape artist Alistair Makinson has painted on the Tay for many years, and we will shortly be launching this initiative where prints of each of five Tay beats (Dalguise, Newtyle, Murthly2, Cargill & Islamouth) are being sold in aid of our Tay Western Catchments Project. We anticipate having more particpating beats in 2009, with proceeds going to conservation projects more widely on the Tay, in conjunction with the Tay Ghillies Association and TDSFB. Scottish Native Woods will pilot the initiative in 2008. Framed prints are hanging in each of the five participating huts, with links to our website on the home pages of each of these beats on FishTay.
If you would like to know more about this initiative or about the artist, or to purchase a print, please go to our website, www.scottishnativewoods.org.uk and look for Alistair Makinson Prints under How you can Help
There follows some pictures from each of the five beats involved.......
