I have a request from Christabel to put up some more "cute animal photos", so here is a good opportunity to get shot of some spare blog material. First some Highland cattle, then a few deer, then a few sheep ones.
We have started survey work this week, although my two surveyors must have had a dodgy meal a few nights ago and have been off ill for two days. I know the venue to blame, but I wont mention it here. We are starting to build up a bit of a reserve of photos again and will start posting regularly from next week. I beleive we already have a good close-up photo of a fox on the hill, so I am hoping that it is good enough for on here. We have been finding water voles in the Lyon catchment already, including an actual siting two days ago, and in an area where we were probably not expecting them. This is definitely going to be one of our big outputs, recording the disribution of one of the most endangered animals over a huge area, and in the strategically important buffer zone between the two National Parks. On the native woodland front, we have been picking up more stands of aspen. The areas we have been in this week have been beyond where migratory fish might be able to access.
These sheep were snapped up near the Cononish in April this year.
