New Born Red deer Calf

It is the peak of the red deer calving season just now, and although we are trying to be careful where we go, it is inevitable that we will come across new born calves from time to time. They crouch down in the hope that we will not see them.
The correct thing to do in these situations is just to move quickly and quietly away and dont touch the calf, whether you can see other deer around or not. It's mother will come back to it in due course, but not if you have interfered with it.
