This plantation has not had any active management for a very long time, and has a lot of little pockets of windblow. It is however a very nice habitat, with a mixture of large mature larch trees, conifers of other species, broadleaves in the riparian zone and a lot of deadwood, both on the forest floor and caught up in other trees.
We had 4 red squirrel sitings today on the way up here.
