Although these are stags, I was seeing hinds all the time today, and was very aware that I was moving them from their corries in their calving period, which was just starting on the hills. All the hinds I seen today moved quietly away, and hopefully if any had young calves, they will have came back for them when I had passed by.
Every time I looked up I could see ears on the horizon, and I have included suitable photos at different stages throughout this report.
If you ever come across a young calf on the hill, just leave it and quietly move on, whether you see other deer around or not.
