Aberfeldy's Poplar Avenue

This is the famous "Poplar Avenue" in Aberfeldy. The long standing mature poplar trees had to be felled due to disease about 20 years ago, and were replaced at that point by our native poplar, the trembling or quaking Aspen, Populus Tremula. The leaves are a very distinctive yellow colour at this time of year, and the trees are starting to spread by sucker growth, which is extremely profuse along the roadside. This section of road between Wade's Bridge and Weem gets flooded most years, and was being threatened again yesterday........Scottish Native Woods' founder was involved with this project.
