Harvesting Timber on the Dochart

Pictured here in the background is a large harvesting operation that was taking place on the Dochart in February this year. This type of operation provides an ideal opportunity to introduce a more sympathetic planting pattern around watercourses than was usually the case when these woods were planted, 40-60 years ago. Such decisions can now be readily be influenced through Forest Design Plans in the public sector, "Forest Plans" for the private sector. All relevant interests have the opportunity to comment on these. Landowners are almost always quite happy to take on board any reasonable requests.
